Logistics and Installation

The photographs showcased here document the logistics and installation process of Eduardo Nery's tile panel at the Macau International Airport passenger terminal. Eduardo Nery made multiple trips to Macau to survey the site, which was still under construction, where the panel would eventually be installed. At the Viúva Lamego factory, the sets of tiles were meticulously numbered and marked for later installation at the airport. A specialized team then travelled to Macau to complete the final installation.

The panel's design features a geometric and quadric grid of tiles, forming a network of diagonals and verticals. Various symbolic and representative motifs of Portuguese and Macanese culture are depicted within this grid. These motifs encompass themes such as Portuguese and Chinese religions and myths, the historic sea route connecting Portugal and Macau, nautical science, cosmography, astronomy, aviation in Macau, and aspects of 16th-17th century Portuguese culture, including references to music, dance, and portrayals of Portuguese historical figures.
